The self-titled debut EP from the German duo Hui arrives like a coded transmission from a future ecosystem — half orbital debris, half moss-scented hallucination. Their abstract electronics ripple with the cool fluorescence of speculative machinery, but underneath the circuitry there’s the unmistakable pulse of something feral, something breathing in the undergrowth.
Each track unfolds like an uncharted corridor in a cinematic score that was never filmed: drones that twist like chrome vines, rhythms that strobe with the indifferent logic of satellites, harmonics that feel scraped from the hull of a derelict starship. Yet the deeper you go, the more this capsule dissolves into the trembling geometry of a forest walk undertaken under jeweled skies. Branches bending in conspiratorial arcs, light fracturing into impossible colors, the earth murmuring in sub-bass frequencies.
The duo of Johannes Schebler (mappa, Buh Records, Quindi, STROOM, et al) and Sven Fritz (Orange Milk, International Winners, et al) distills this paradox with a kind of feverish clarity: a sound that is both meticulously engineered and deliriously organic, as if a spacecraft had crash-landed in ancient woodland and begun to dream.
